Why I built this
Why I built this
I’m the chef in my household. Every day my wife asks me what’s for dinner, and half the time I can’t remember what’s in the fridge, what’s expiring, or what we bought last week. She’d add things to the grocery list that we already had. We were throwing away money and food every month. So I started treating my kitchen like a restaurant first in, first out, expiration tracking, meals planned around what we actually have. It made a real difference. Then I realized there wasn’t an app that did this properly, so I’m building one. Akalu is that app. If your kitchen feels chaotic, you’re going to love this.

How is Akalu different from other kitchen apps?
How is Akalu different from other kitchen apps?
Akalu is built around how chefs actually run kitchens — first-in-first-out inventory, expiration-driven meal planning, and recipes built from what you already have. It's the difference between an app that automates convenience and one that helps you run your kitchen with intention. And it's built by a home chef, not a corporation — which shapes every choice we make.

One person, so far, named Charles. I work full-time in car sales and build Akalu in the evenings and weekends. This isn’t a VC-funded startup — it’s a home chef trying to solve a real problem for real families.
